Taking the ferry to the North Island, Wellington, was a total cruise. The ferry was HUGE with a cinema, several restaurants, cabins. You name it, they had it. We ended up going to the cinema and at the end of the movie the boat started rocking. Half an hour later it was pale faces galore and here and there an occasional puke. Lovely. The water in New Zealand isn’t really like the Maldives. So after a rocky entrance we arrived in Wellington. In the pouring rain. But ready to explore the North Island.

So the first part of exploring the South Island was already amazing and we did not even visit the top sites if we must believe the internet. That fact made us very excited for part 2. Kicking of with Queenstown.
New Zealand #1 South Island Part 1
Leaving Australia was hard. We loved it there! It was quite a challenge to switch mentally to a different country even though we were excited to explore New Zealand. We booked a flight to Christchurch, rented another motorhome and knew that we were flying out close to 4 weeks later from Auckland. We wanted to see both islands, starting with the South island, which everybody claims to be the most beautiful. We only planned the first couple of days and planned everything else while in New Zealand. This is where we ended up;
