Ironman 70.3 Ecuador. It was a race that had been in my mind for such a long time. After putting in a hard block of training in Boulder I had high expectations for this race. I really wanted to go podium and get a slot for the world championships in South Africa in 2018. I was feeling very good coming into the race and was ready to enjoy myself on the course in what is by far the ‘craziest’ race I’m doing this year. Ecuador is a beautiful country and the people are super nice. In Manta, where the race is held, the Ironman really is the event of the year and tens of thousands of people were expected around the course on race day.
Ironman 70.3 Durban – De eerste indrukken
En daar zijn we dan. Bij Ironman 70.3 nummer 5 van onze reis! Hello Durban South Africa! Kan iemand even wat aan die tijd, die zo snel gaat, doen?
Kel’s fiets- en rentasje hangen inmiddels netjes op hun haakje en de fiets staat in het rek. Bring it on! Voor iedereen die zich afvraagt hoe zo’n Ironman in Afrika dan precies gaat, hebben wij wat ‘eerste indrukken’.
After movie Ironman 70.3 Barcelona
So the Go Pro was being very cheeky and decided to test me once again by just quitting on me during the race. I thought we’ve lost him forever, but last week he decided to switch on again! #winning! I wouldn’t want the footage I’ve made with the Go Pro and my mobile go to waste, so 4 weeks after the race we have a sweet little after movie of the Ironman 70.3 in Barcelona! It was a great day with lots of sun and lots of support crew, which is always nice.
Hopefully the Go Pro will actually function this weekend in Durban. Fingers Crossed!
