Ironman 70.3 Ecuador. It was a race that had been in my mind for such a long time. After putting in a hard block of training in Boulder I had high expectations for this race. I really wanted to go podium and get a slot for the world championships in South Africa in 2018. I was feeling very good coming into the race and was ready to enjoy myself on the course in what is by far the ‘craziest’ race I’m doing this year. Ecuador is a beautiful country and the people are super nice. In Manta, where the race is held, the Ironman really is the event of the year and tens of thousands of people were expected around the course on race day.
After movie Ironman 70.3 Barcelona
So the Go Pro was being very cheeky and decided to test me once again by just quitting on me during the race. I thought we’ve lost him forever, but last week he decided to switch on again! #winning! I wouldn’t want the footage I’ve made with the Go Pro and my mobile go to waste, so 4 weeks after the race we have a sweet little after movie of the Ironman 70.3 in Barcelona! It was a great day with lots of sun and lots of support crew, which is always nice.
Hopefully the Go Pro will actually function this weekend in Durban. Fingers Crossed!
Race report Ironman 70.3 Barcelona
Ever since my second place (AG) in Ironman 70.3 Thailand I had my eyes on Ironman 70.3 Barcelona. As I wrote earlier, Ironman Geelong and Florida were races I was trying just to have fun, but Barcelona was different. With a solid block of over 4 weeks of training planned in Girona I was really hoping to go fast here, and I had all sorts of expectations in my mind in terms of time and ranking.
